Ghost of Yotei: Choose a Topic Decision, Explained
As you make your way through Ghost of Yotei and guide Atsu on her adventure to defeat the Yotei Six, you’ll have a few moments where you’ll need to ‘choose a topic.’ The game doesn’t really explain what this means or what it does. As such, some players may be wondering if there’s any impact on the gameplay or story depending on the topics they choose in these moments. In this guide, I’ll explain what you need to know about the Ghost of Yotei ‘choose a topic’ decisions, so you can enjoy the game without fear of missing out on something.
What Topic Should You Choose in Ghost of Yotei?
Interrogating Enemies
There are two different situations where you’ll be asked to choose a topic. The first is when you’re interrogating enemies, particularly during the opening hours of the game, when you’re trying to learn more about the Yotei Six. After fighting some enemies, you’ll be able to choose a topic, each of which focuses on one of the Yotei Six. In these scenarios, you want to choose the member of the Yotei Six that you want to learn more about.
In my experience, this didn’t make a difference to the gameplay, as you’ll eventually ask about all of them anyway. Just because you choose to learn more about the Kitsune first, for example, doesn’t mean you’re locked into pursuing and fighting them first. You can fight the Yotei Six in whichever order you want once you’ve learned about them.
As you progress through the game, you’ll interrogate enemies on other important information that’ll help Atsu with her mission. Simply choose the topics that you want to learn about and you’ll get the answer you’re looking for. But don’t worry, you’ll never be locked out of anything, and so you can’t ‘choose the wrong topic’ in Ghost of Yotei.
Hot Springs
The other instance where you’ll be asked to choose a topic in Ghost of Yotei is when Atsu takes a dip in one of the hot springs. Here, Atsu will sit in the hot spring for a little while and spend some time reflecting on a topic. The topic you choose is entirely up to you, depending on which you find the most interesting and want to get Atsu’s perspective on.
The topic you choose to reflect on at a hot spring doesn’t matter and won’t effect the gameplay in any major way. Again, it’s really just so you can learn how Atsu feels about a topic.
